HONORING IYAGA

Iyaga Honey's name is an homage to Queen Mother Kanjogera, one of the most influential women in Rwanda’s royal history.  Her nickname "Iyaga" means "on the wind" in Kinyarwanda.

Kanjogera served as Queen Mother held a powerful position within the leadership of the Rwanda kingdom.  Like the importance of a queen in every hive, Kanjogera's story reflects the significant role women have held throughout every place in Rwanda’s history and future.

As a woman-owned, Rwandan company, the name Iyaga connects what we are building today with the land, heritage and stories that came before us.

Iyaga is a connection to the queen in every hive.
